The Tower Room

A circular room at the top of the old tower, up a winding stair of its own, with windows to every side and the hills beyond.

There is nothing else quite like it in the house — a round room, panelled and private, with a bed set to catch the morning and a writing desk angled at the longest view. The stair is steep and the climb is the point: above the rooftops, the county opens out.

A decanter is left on the side, and the bath, tucked into the thickness of the wall, looks west to the sunset.
